Nutrition Advice for Herpes
During an attack, avoid foods high in the amino acid arginine (chocolate, almonds, brazil nuts, cashew nuts, coconut, hazelnuts, linseeds, peanuts, pecans, walnuts, sesame seeds and walnuts. When the lesions are healed, it’s good to eat them again as they contain valuable oils and calcium and magnesium.
To help prevent reoccurrence, help the immune system by eating a generally healthy diet - high fibre, lots of fresh vegetables of all colours, fruits, some fish, skinless chicken and turkey, wholegrains.
Drink at least 1½ litres of spring or filtered water every day.
Avoid sugar, excess coffee and alcohol and refined foods.
