I tested positive for HV2 (swab - after horrible first outbreak) 20 years into our marriage. I did not get anything in writing (this doctor has died and her practice closed a number of years ago). Of course, no one knew how it happened. Fifteen years later I requested an Igg test (12 for HV2 & no chance of 1.) I was literally praying for HV1. I requested my husband finally get one, too. (10 for HV2 and no chance of 1). This was never a subject I could get any discussion about, even though I always had my ideas. I told him we got it somehow, and I had never been with anyone but him. I went on suppression medication after the Igg test.
About a month ago, I got another horrible infection - but it was on my finger. I did a lot of surfing and feel it was herpetic whitlow from what I read. I was a week into it when I showed it to my new doctor. She said she had never seen one (up close and real but it looked like it could be one). It was over three weeks before it started to heal. My finger tip is still a bit numb.
1. Could the original HV2 have come from my husband working out at the gym and been transferred genitally to me? He has never had one symptom of anything. I have had a terrible time since the first outbreak until going on the Valtrex.
2. Am I going to be prone to these herpes whitlow sores/infections going forward-if that is what it was? I thought being on the Valtrex would protect me more.
I have run out of options here. He swears he did nothing. The end of the conversation (and me ever asking again) was when he said maybe I had it first. We were having some issues back then when all this started, and he has avoided any type of conversation on this matter. That is the way he avoids important issues - avoids them. Maybe I will forget if I have to wait long enough for an answer.
I am putting this to rest, because I will never be able to get a direct answer from my husband. I had never seen anything about the whitlow until recently, and I just had to ask someone who would not get in my face over the subject. Either way, I just want some input.
Thanks.

I contracted herpes from a woman that I met and as all men we usually get caught up in the physical appearance of a woman, and yes she was an attractive woman we dated for about 6 months before any sexual contact whatsoever was initiated. After about 6 months we had our first sexual encounter and it was consistent on a daily basis I eventually moved her into my home and the about a year later she became pregnant, and was then that she revealed to me that she had herpes, I was devastated, and the way she told me blew me away we were lying in bed and she turned to me and said "I have something to tell you" I immediately became concerned, as I began to listen to her she said I have herpes my heart fell to the floor, I said why didn't you tell me, I was very honest with you I told you I was drug and disease free, her whole attitude changed on me, we had a healthy little boy, we stayed together for about a year and broke up. And now so many advised me to use hsv-zero, but I'm still using acyclovir for herpes outbreak cure. But apparently not for the good of the outbreak. Finally I used the HSV Zero and it's really work well, honestly it can speed healing. Is there among you who try to HSV-zero?
