Hi I have had herpes for 5 years now. It has never bothered me before. I have had little to no out breaks. One month ago i started getting swollen sore etc.. I was give valtrex it didn't work i thought it was a yeast infection but that treatment didn't work either.. My question is is it normal to have herpes for so long and have no trouble and then all of a sudden this?

yes you can have one breakout once every 5 years, but the question is - how do you know that you have herpes 5 years if you haven't problems?
