Herpes Contagious

Is Herpes Contagious In Any Way?

Is herpes contagious or not? This is a very simple question, the answer to which can save quite a lot of people a lot of trouble. However, because of the embarrassing nature of the disease, many people do not give the disease the due credit and ultimately serve in spreading the disease.

Herpes is a very common disease that can be caused from anywhere between fatigue, fever or menstruation among women, to name a few. However because of its high contagious nature, many people are infected without any viable cause, only because they failed to take due caution and did not know enough the disease.

The disease is manifested in the form of sores on or around the genital areas, often causing itching. Although the virus can enter your body through mucous membranes or small breaks in the skin, once in, the virus usually lies dormant within the nerve cells, often for quite long periods before finally manifesting itself. You may never know how long you have lived with the virus already in your body.

Once manifested, it usually take about four weeks to clear away, however even that does not stop it from recurring again in the future. Once you notice herpes, precaution is necessary so that you get to suffer from the diseases as little as possible. Treat the infected area like you would any other infection. Keep it clean, avoid contact and wash hands thoroughly after touching. And first and foremost, abstain from any sexual contact in case your virus is transmitted and you have to stay away from each other longer than you want.

The virus can however create some drastic negative effects in case you are a pregnant mother, be sure to inform your doctor and go through the necessary tests. Herpes can cause severe rashes, eye or brain problems, or your child could even be born dead.
