Herpes Whitlow
What Is Different About Herpes Whitlow?
Herpes is an extremely contagious virus. Because it so easy to transmit, the occurrence of herpes whitlow, also known as finger herpes, is easy to contract. The biggest incidents of this herpes virus is in the sufferer themselves. If you have the virus and you touch an open sore during an outbreak, then forget to immediately wash you hand, you will probably get this form of the virus as well.
The most widespread occurrence of this kind of herpes was in dentists and their staff during those times when gloves were not required. No one ever thought that they could catch a herpes virus on their fingers until it started happening. Health care professionals today, however, are instructed to take precautions with every single patient.
Treatment for finger herpes is the same as for any other kind of herpes. The sores are the same and since they form on the fingers, they can also cause a limit to what that person can do until the outbreak passes. This can affect someone's life in many debilitating ways, such as in their job. This is not to mention that it is a cause for embarrassment.
The fingers are not the only place that you can get the herpes virus. How many times do you catch yourself rubbing your eyes everyday? You do it before you think about and you sometimes may not even be aware that are doing it. This is another place you can contract the virus at and having weeping blisters around your eyes would not be pleasant. Make sure that you always wash your hand after touching an open sore during a herpes outbreak.
Having herpes whitlow can cause you a lot of pain. You can treat the blisters and sores on your fingers in the same way you do any other one elsewhere on your body during an outbreak. Tea bags, dampened, are one of the best remedies. Aloe vera works well and would be easier to apply on the fingers. Take care to always wash your hands multiple time a day, even when you aren't experiencing an outbreak.
